Happy New Year, Region 6! Hope everyone is surviving the winter weather. Days are getting longer and our AOs have some great things planned just around the corner. 🙂 The USAWE Members meeting is right around the corner. Please look out for that invite and prepare any questions you might have. There are some big changes to the rulebook this year!

The Working Equitation East Members Meeting is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Thursday February 6th. Keep an eye on your email for the invite! We look forward to seeing everyone online and talking through your goals for the year.

Region 6 is looking for volunteers to staff the Booth at the World Horse Expo this year Feb 27 – Mar 2 in Pennsylvania. We had such a great time last year, we will have a booth and hope to do a demo. If you are interested, please reach out to Holly Linz at keepstables@yahoo.com

Oak Spring Equestrian

Oak Spring held an awesome Award’s banquet in January for all the participants and donors for the year long schooling show series. Held in our toasty shop on site, the baked ziti and rolls held keep the cold at bay while we celebrated the 2024 season. What a successful series of shows and a great event to round out the year. Thank you to everyone who donated their time and those that donated the prizes to make the shows and banquet such a success. As you can see below, there were so many awards to be given out, and grab bags for the participants. It was a great season with 5 full schooling shows. The judges were Kim Hillyer, Danni

Toscano and Holly Linz. We look forward to what 2025 has in store! The Next event at Oak Spring will be the Train to Win #3 Clinic in March.

NEWE is off to a great start for 2025 with a successful membership drive! Our first Virtual Learning Education meeting was held January 9th with great attendance. Many thanks to our guest speaker Lilli Biedermann of The Riding Zone, Equestrian Mental Performance Training. Lilli explained how we as competitors and riders can be our own worse enemies in our head when it comes to show day, or even schooling. We enjoyed a few tips from her to help us mentally be the best we can in the saddle.

Our next Virtual Educational meeting will be held February 13 at 7:30 pm EST. Topics will include the discussion of 2025 Rule Changes and questions related to the rule book. USAWE TD and Licensed Official Committee Member Deb Quillinan will field questions regarding to the rules and USAWE Professional Instructor and “L” judge Stephanie Hayes will answer questions and provide input from a training and judging perspective. March 13 join us as guest speaker Doreen Atkinson, “S” judge, WAWE judge candidate and top Master’s level rider talks about what she’s learned by scribing at the World and European Championship shows. Doreen is a wealth of information and will take questions.

All Virtual Learning meetings are free to NEWE members. To join NEWE visit NEWE Membership. Non members are invited to attend for $15 per meeting- click here to register.

Many clinics and two USAWE Licensed shows will be held throughout the northeast and are on the NEWE calendar.

NYSWE welcomes 2025 with a series of Winter Chat & Learn Sessions. These sessions are free for NYSWE members, and only $15 each for non-members.

We’ll host two licensed shows on May 31st and June 1st this summer, once again at Schaghticoke Fairgrounds. We’re planning for some fun shows!

In addition, we’d like to plan more learning activities and look to our members for suggestions that will benefit them. Here’s to a great 2025!
