REGION 6

By: Cera Olsen — Region 6 Director

Region 6! Clinics are under way, the first shows are about to begin, and the weather can’t make up its mind, that must mean it is spring time! I look forward to seeing everyone in all the different activities we have around the region. Follow along in GIRA to see how competitors are doing if you are unable to be on site, or come volunteer if you are unable to ride. Volunteers are essential to every show and greatly appreciated. Volunteering also offers a great opportunity to learn the sport. Reach out to the show secretary for any upcoming event if you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities. If competitions are not your speed, meet up with your local AO for a clinic or playday opportunity. There is something happening near you. Follow the Region 6 Calendar, managed by Oak Spring, to avoid missing any events. Please reach out at r6director@usawe.org if there are any questions, concerns, or feedback that you would like to provide to help grow our corner of USAWE. Thank you for your participation and hope everyone has a great ride!

New England Working Equitation Updates

Competition season in the northeast will be here before we know it.  NEWE founder Stephanie Hayes will be heading south to Working Equitation East’s Licensed show in VA  April 26-27 as a competitor, and NEWE secretary Deb Quillinan will be attending as the TD for the show. We look forward to seeing our friends from other Region 6 AO’s.

Our first Licensed show takes place July 19 at our host facility Equanimity Farm in Brookfield, NH. “S” Judge Doreen Atkinson will be presiding, Deb Quillinan as TD. Doreen will be teaching a clinic the day after the show.  Our second show will be held August 30-31 at Gelinas Farm in Pembroke, NH. We are very fortunate to be able to have the Cattle Trial at Gelinas, thanks to farm owner Elaina Enzien. Elaina will be teaching a cattle clinic the day prior of the show. More information on both NEWE shows will be posted in May.

To get riders ready for the show season, NEWE has a list of clinics and events at NEWE Calendar

Our Virtual Learning Sessions have been well attended, covering informative topics for riders each month. Our next meeting is set for May 15th. For more information visit NEWE Virtual Educational Series
