SUMMARY:IA: Working Equitation Clinic and a Schooling Show
DESCRIPTION:Thinking about entering your very first Working Equitation Show? Have you shown already\, but have not shown under the newly edited rules or tried new dressage tests? Here is your chance to work out any problems with a USAWE licensed judge Lidia Taylor.\nOn Saturday\, all riders will have a chance to ride both\, their Dressage tests and EOH courses in the Ride-Review-Ride format with the immediate judge’s feedback and targeted work on the most impactful corrections.\nAs always\, riders of all disciplines (both English and Western) and horses of all breeds (including gaited horses) are welcome.\nOn Sunday\, there will be a WE schooling show conducted by the USA Working Equitation Rulebook\, version 6.1. While full show attire is not required\, the riders should comply with minimum requirements (collared\, sleeved shirts and tack allowed by the rulebook). Horses should comply with the minimum age requirement for their level.\nYou may chose to enter the clinic only\, the show only\, or opt to ride in both. Clinic cost for both days is $230.00 or $40.00 for individual judged rides on Sunday. $100.00 non refundable deposit required prior to the event. If riding in the individual judged rides only full payment is required in advance .There is no stabling available on the premises.\nTo register\, please\, contact Sue Larkin at (563) 343-7575

SUMMARY:WI: Sunrise Ranch WE Cattle Clinic
DESCRIPTION:SRR Working Equitation Cattle Clinic \nIn Working Equitation\, Level 2 and up offers the cattle trial. It is one of the favorite trials of many WE riders and we look forward to preparing you and your horse to work together as partners and as a team in sorting and moving cows as outlined for the WE sport. \nStarting unmounted we will act out a sorting on foot\, enabling us to focus on the position in relation to the cow\, the direction of focus for control\, effective support riders\, when to accelerate\, and being in the right place at the right time. Then\, moving slowly on our own experienced ranch mounts\, we will help your horse gain confidence and show you how to work with your horse to move cattle effectively using the aids\, focus\, and timing.\nThis\, the fourth Working Equitation trial\, is unique in its riding application of yields\, side passing\, and rollbacks. We look forward to sharing the essential use of the aids and energy and how they apply to cow work. \nThis is an ideal opportunity to introduce your horse to cows if they have not had that opportunity yet\, or to challenge them in accuracy in group work in accordance to USA WE rules. Please note\, that the cattle trial is available only to Level 2 riders in the Working Equitaion rated shows. See the WE website for more.\nhttps://dev25.usawe.org/cattle-trial/ \nThere will also be ample time in the evening for you to free practice in the WE Ease of Handling (EOH) obstacle course.\nThis event will be followed by an SRR Member potluck please feel free to join in the food\, fellowship\, and fun! \nThe 2023 SRR Cattle Clinic is the second event in a series. We encourage you to check out the other WE events here and to take part in them all! \nMay 20 ~ SRR Working Equitation Clinic \nJune 3 ~ SRR WE Cattle Clinic & Practice \nJune 17 ~ WE Virtual Ride a Test ~Stephanie Hayes \nAugust 25 ~ WE Schooling Show ~ Amy Star\nAugust 26 ~ WE Rated Show & Cattle Trial\nAugust 27 ~ WE Rated Show & Cattle Trial \nEMAIL FOR SIGN-UP FORM!\nthesunriseranch@gmail.com \n

SUMMARY:IA: Working Equitation Clinic with Lidia Taylor
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join us for a fun weekend of Working Equitation with Lidia Taylor! Working Equitation combines the correctness of Dressage with the Ease of Handling needed for obstacles and tested by speed. Riders and horses of any and all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to participate in the tack and clothing of their discipline. \nDay 1 will include discussion describing Working Equitation and the rules followed by 1.5hr small group lessons (3 riders max) working with obstacles included in Working Equitation tests. \nDay 2 will focus on Dressage lessons and walk through of the 2023 WE Tests. Format will depend on participants. \nOur clinician: Lidia Taylor has been teaching riding lessons for over 20 years focusing on rider bio-mechanics\, correct timing and application of the aids\, and extensive use of school figures and exercises to address training issues. She is certified by the American Riding Instructor’s Association as Level II Dressage\, Driving\, and Recreational Riding and Level III Western Dressage instructor. She is a proud graduate of the Western Dressage Association of America’s Train the Trainer program. She has worked with horses from Paso Finos to Percherons. Her Working Equitation journey began in 2016. The inclusivity of the sport was a huge attraction\, and its demanding nature from a training standpoint fit well with her own training and teaching. She promotes the sport by teaching Introduction to WE clinics as well as being a level “r” judge and Technical Delegate with USA Working Equitation. \nDetails: Red Tail Ranch has stalls available for those interested in hauling in for this clinic. \nHelmets are required for all riders. \nLunch will be provided each day. \n$250/rider includes a lesson each day. ($150 non-refundable deposit due Feb 25th) \n$25/day for auditors\, $35 for the weekend. \n$35/overnight stay in stalls (bedding provided) \nContact Leslie Cook for more information @ redtailranchdsm@gmail.com or text/call (515) 205-6465 \nLooking forward to sharing something new to the Des Moines area with all of you!
