SUMMARY:IL: Horseless Introduction to Working Equitation
DESCRIPTION:This Introduction to Working Equitation clinic taught without horses. We’ve found this is the best way to teach riders about the 4 phases of Working Equitation: 1)Dressage\, 2)Ease of Handling (obstacles)\, 3)Speed (obstacles) and 4) Cattle. The clinic will focus on the rules and requirements of each phase. We will have a regulation course set and walk each obstacle to discuss requirements for each. Once we’ve reviewed all the obstacles and rules\, we’ll put it to the test with an actual course walk to discuss strategies. If time permits we will also provide a demo ride of the course. DESCRIPTION:This will be a B-Rated Working Equitation competition\, licensed by USA Working Equitation at the beautiful WW facility in Milton-Freewater\, Oregon (just south of Walla Walla\, WA)\, the heart of eastern Oregon/Washington’s Wine Country. In addition\, we’ll be offering a full day intensive cattle clinic on Friday before the show. Our entire course or several obstacles will be set during each practice session for Team KarMik members. We will provide different setups with varied obstacles at each session. You can come to just have some fun with the obstacles or come with the intention of going on to compete and test your skills at schooling shows\, B-Rated\, Regional or National levels. Riding portion of the clinic will focus on proper and safe introduction and execution of each obstacle. \nDay 2:\nWill start out focusing briefly on the Dressage phase and then a schooling show which will be videotaped and each ride re watched as a group with Emily’s comments as we watch. Copies of each ride will be sent to riders. Riders will also leave with written comments and score sheets from their schooling rounds. \nWorking Equitation is a great sport for ANY horse or rider. It gives the horse and rider a job\, focus and purpose. It also helps riders to set and reach their goals.
